Jack Naylor

My interest in finance began at a young age, as I became increasingly involved in discussions around family finances, tax matters and financial planning.  These experiences gave me an appreciation for the importance of trusted professional advice and inspired me to pursue a career in accountancy.  This is one of the reasons David Allen stood out to me, having known the firm through my own experience as well as through family and friends.  It is a company that is highly respected within the local community and I am proud to be building my career with a business that people know and trust.

Initially, I joined David Allen through a work placement which gave me valuable insight into the Financial Services and Tax sectors, reinforcing my interest in helping clients navigate important financial decisions.  After achieving a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from Newcastle University, I joined David Allen as an Accounts Assistant and am working towards becoming ACA Chartered.  During my studies, I developed strong analytical, problem solving and teamwork skills through a range of projects, including being selected as one of the university’s top performing students to work on a consultancy project with Essity plc.  I was also selected for a competitive academic visit to Bloomberg and HSBC headquarters in Canary Wharf, where I gained first hand insight into the operations of leading global financial institutions and learned more about career opportunities within the financial services sector.  The opportunity to gain my chartered qualification and continue developing professionally is something I find particularly exciting.  I look forward to continuing my development within the firm, building my knowledge and supporting clients and businesses to achieve their goals.

Outside of work, I have always enjoyed team sports.  I played rugby for Wigton RFC and Nelson Thomlinson School’s first team, helping the team win the County Plate in Year 11.  I also represented Newcastle University Polo Club during my time at university.  Through both sports, I developed a strong appreciation for teamwork, communication and the social connections that come from working towards a shared goal.  Away from sport, I am focused on continuing my professional development and achieving chartered status as successfully as possible.
