With a particular interest in cybersecurity, I enjoy reviewing phishing and suspicious emails, helping to protect users from potential threats while developing my technical expertise. As an IT Technician at David Allen, I support the team with a range of tasks including setting up new user accounts, configuring laptops and mobile devices and providing day to day IT support.
My route into IT was slightly unexpected. I had originally planned to study Civil Engineering, but after my course was cancelled, I decided to follow my original interest in technology and enrolled on an IT course at Carlisle College. After completing my BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma and Foundation Diploma, I chose to pursue a career in IT, combining technical knowledge with practical, hands on experience.
David Allen stood out to me because of its commitment to developing people. The firm actively engaged with students at college and both of my tutors highly recommended David Allen as a great place to build a career in the industry. It was really exciting to see that the David Allen team were being recongised with awards that showed that developement for their team wasn’t just something that was talked about it was clearly really important. Now, I get to see this every day with the supportive and collaborative culture, along with the willingness of colleagues to share their knowledge, continues to make it an enjoyable place to work.
I enjoy learning new skills and putting them into practice. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is being given a task, understanding how to approach it and seeing it through successfully. I am particularly interested in cybersecurity and enjoy developing my knowledge across this constantly evolving area of technology.
