Laura Hughes

After completing my Level 2 and part of my Level 3 Associate of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualifications online during maternity leave with my first daughter, I joined David Allen as an Accounts Assistant.  The flexible working hours have allowed me to balance family life with my career, and I am now being supported through my Level 4 AAT qualification.

In my role, I prepare VAT returns and draft accounts for a wide range of clients.  I particularly enjoy the problem solving side of the role, finding the most efficient ways to process information without compromising accuracy or attention to detail.  The variety of work keeps every day interesting, and I genuinely feel like I learn something new all the time.

Working in our Workington office is another aspect I value.  We collaborate well as a team, supporting each other with workloads and sharing knowledge to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.

Outside of work, my two daughters keep me busy, especially with the many clubs they attend, including cheerleading with Cheer Force Knights in Maryport.  Looking ahead, I aim to continue progressing through further qualifications, with the long term goal of becoming a Chartered Accountant.
