Swapping engineering for accountancy might seem like an unusual career move, but it gave me the opportunity to combine my passion for problem solving with my interest in the Agricultural sector. After developing a range of transferable skills in engineering, I realised I wanted to build long term expertise within an industry I have always been passionate about. This led me to join David Allen as an Accounts Assistant in the Agricultural team, where I have developed my accountancy knowledge while supporting businesses across the agricultural sector.
I am currently working towards my Level 3 Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification, combining my studies with hands on experience across a variety of clients and projects. Each day brings new opportunities to develop practical accounting skills, broaden my knowledge and build confidence in my role. My previous career has provided me with a strong foundation in organisation, adaptability and communication, helping me approach new challenges with confidence.
The Agricultural team at David Allen was a natural fit due to my farming background and keen interest in farming, alongside giving me the opportunity to gain professional qualifications while building a rewarding career in accountancy. From day one, the support and encouragement from colleagues has helped me settle into the team, grow in confidence and continue developing my skills.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, horse riding and being actively involved in farming and Young Farmers Club. As Treasurer of my Young Farmers Club, I have gained valuable experience managing finances and taking on additional responsibility. I also enjoy attending agricultural shows and events throughout the year.
Away from farming I am also a keen horse rider.
