Toby Smallwood

I have always been someone who likes to learn new things and understand how they work, whether that is gaining experience across different departments, improving my golf game, or even growing my collection of football shirts.  That curiosity was what initially brought me to David Allen.  It is also one of the reasons I enjoyed my week of work experience at David Allen.  I had the opportunity to spend time with every department across the business and gain a real insight into the company, as the different professionals and the experience confirmed that accountancy was the career path I wanted to pursue.  Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming and David Allen’s core values reinforced that it was the right place for me to begin my career.

Since joining as an Accounts Assistant, I have enjoyed learning alongside other apprentices and developing my understanding of the profession in a supportive and collaborative environment.  I am currently working towards my Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) qualifications and am excited by the opportunity to gain experience across different departments, helping me develop my skills and discover where I would like to specialise in the future. My long term ambition is to complete my qualifications and ultimately become a Chartered Accountant.

Outside of work, I am a keen football fan, with one of the highlights of my collection being an England squad signed shirt from 2003.  I also enjoy gaming and occasionally playing golf, both of which have helped me develop skills such as problem solving, patience and determination.
